LRO Healthcare Survey Results – Insurance Alternatives

The LRO conducted a follow-up Healthcare Insurance Survey with those LRO members who noted in the LRO Opinion Survey early in 2007 that they had found alternatives to the healthcare insurance plans offered by Alcatel-Lucent.  Because insurance plans vary from state to state, the LRO is providing a summary by state of the healthcare insurance carriers that some of your fellow Lucent retirees have chosen to use.

The responses serve to also underscore two important concepts which the LRO Benefits Team endorses and which the LRO is working to support.  These are that:

·        All retirees should become active, empowered and informed consumers who seek to understand for themselves what possible choices they should make for themselves and their family members in an informed and independent way...with and/or without Alcatel-Lucent as the core provider.

·        The survey results clearly illustrate that the LRO members who responded have taken such steps.

The LRO will continue to find ways and means to communicate and to assist in this progressive process.

Some retirees have been in these healthcare plans for only a few months; others have been enrolled for a number of years.  Only you and your family can decide which healthcare plan can best address your requirements.  The LRO is only offering the names of these healthcare insurance companies as a way of communicating what other Lucent retirees have selected as alternatives to the Lucent plans.  The LRO does not endorse these plans and cannot vouch for their cost effectiveness or services.

If you wish to contact one or more of these healthcare insurance providers, that decision is totally up to you. The LRO Benefits Team webpage (www.LucentRetirees.com/BenefitsTeam ) features a “Compare” section that lists authoritative sources for helping Lucent retirees make a decision on healthcare insurance plans.

Below are the healthcare insurance carriers in the states where the LRO members live who responded to the LRO Healthcare Survey.
